Home Remedies for Fever Blisters | How to Get Rid of Fever Blisters

Fever blisters, or what some may call them, cold sores, are painful and ugly-looking. We try to cover them with make up or just don't get our pictures taken until they are cured. Often taking some simple painkillers such as aspirin or paracetamol will stop the blister in its tracks!

Black Walnut which is known as the "cure" for cold sores. It has natural antiseptic qualities and it contains iodine which can be effective in curing open blisters. Using this as a topical remedy or an internal remedy is wise.

Apply Isopropyl alcohol, when applied directly to the blisters, helps destroy the virus as it tries to spread. By applying alcohol you will successfully be limiting how big the sores can get, as well as speeding along the process to let them crust over and heal.


Another remedy to be applied is use a warm tea bag and presses it gently as comfortable on the blisters for few minutes. Repeat it after every hour so that you can feel relaxed.
Application of ice is also very effective for preventing the further growth of virus. So you must rub the cube of the ice on the affected areas for 10 minutes and in every hour to reduce the symptom of this problem.

Petroleum jelly can be applied to fever blister to moisturize and soften them so can help to prevent them from cracking and bleeding.

Simple changes in the diet will help you to get rid of cold sores. If you are considering diet as home remedies for fever blisters, then you should completely avoid nuts and chocolates. As these foods are rich in arginine, the herpes virus gets activated. So stay away from them.
